Monday 18th May - Windsurf *** - The Manor - Felixstowe – sunny and warm :)

Starboard Foil Freeride 150 and Slingshot Hover Glide F/Wind with Tushingham Lightning 7.8.

Foil – 15.68 knot max, 14.61 knot ave., 5.47 knot hour, 13.92 knot mile, 16 km., 8.51 knot alpha.

Woke to clear blue skies and hot but the wind was a light NW and not the 15kt SW as forecast so did my exercises in the garden, then at midday the wind swung SW picking up. So, after lunch I drove down to The Manor meeting up with fellow Slingshot foiler Andy Mexome taking Mag down so she could walk back, she avoided much of the prom as she is feed up with the corvid dance!!!! It had clouded over and the wind looked light but we set up anyway, I rigged the biggest sail I had with me, my 7.8 while Andy went with 8.2 and was first to leave the beach and although the wind was marginal, he was up and flying. A couple more Slingshot foilers arrived, they are defiantly taking over Felixstowe as I set off in very light winds. Then a couple of hundred metres off the beach I bumped the board out of the water and ended up having an hour with some nice long runs flying including a 2 mile reach out to a yacht and the sea was super smooth, such fun:) Then the SSW dropped very light as I slogged back to the beach, dropping to nothing then going offshore:( I then tacked as I had been pushed away from our starting beach, so I tacked and headed towards the Orwell hoping for more wind. Sadly, it didn’t pick up so it was time to head back and pack up. There might be some sea breezes for a few days with some stronger wind on Fri/Sat so it could be time to get back on the bikes to make the most of some hot temperatures:)
